Camden Park House is definitely a hidden treasure in terms of Greater Sydney’s tourist attractions.

Located 65 kilometres from the CBD but less than half that distance from my western Sydney home, my wife and I decided upon Camden Park House as a suitable venue to visit – and familiarise ourselves with our brand new PEUGEOT 3008 SUV, which we only took delivery of a few days earlier.

Don’t let the name Camden Park House fool you….the historic homestead is NOT at Camden, but stands majestically over several sprawling and picturesque acres at Menangle Park, a location on the verge of a huge population boom with seemingly countless house and land packages currently on the market.

Those of you with good memories from your primary school days would surely recall the name Captain John Macarthur (1767-1834).

John Macarthur is best known as the “Father of the Australian wool industry”, settling at the site on which Camden Park House  now stands but passing away the year before this magnificent house was completed.

Camden Park is also a cricket venue of much significance, with the ‘gentlemen’s game’ first played there over a century ago….and it remains a much loved ground, with its picturesque bush setting and accommodating social amenities.

But the main purpose of our trip was to give the  PEUGEOT 3008 SUV a bit of a test, both on and off road, at the same time taking a look around an area of historical significance before easily making it back home in time to pick the kids up from school.

And it was a case of three out of three in terms of missions accomplished!

I read prior to picking up the car last week that the  PEUGEOT 3008 SUV has won almost 70 international awards since the first version was launched in 2016 – including the European Car of the Year in 2017.

Such honours do not surprise me as the 2020 model that I’m fortunate enough to be driving is absolutely superb, with its stylish exterior, amazing interior design and a host of features.

Among its innovations are the the much lauded PEUGEOT i-Cockpit®, a spectacular redesigning of the cabin which invites you to discover a 100 percent digital universe, equipped with an 8-inch capacitive touchscreen and a customisable and configurable head-up digital display, a compact steering wheel with integrated controls and an electric automatic gearbox.

All the information essential for your journey is displayed right on the 12.3-inch configurable and customisable head-up digital display.

There’s no doubt that it’s the embodiment of what future driving cabins will be, and the materialisation of the PEUGEOT interior of today and tomorrow.

The external design is equally breathtaking, with the powerful front boasting stylish chrome detail and full LED headlights further enhancing the sleek, feline look.

The car’s fluid and dynamic lines are further emphasised by a strong shoulder line running the length of this striking SUV. The sharp design continues at the rear, courtesy of the Black Diamond roofi and gloss black rear panel incorporating the PEUGEOT signature claw effect LED lighting.

In terms of enhanced performance, the PEUGEOT 3008 SUV also ticks a myriad of boxes, including the use of environmentally-efficient technologies. The lighter chassis, BlueHDi and turbo petrol engines and torque-convertor automatic gearbox mean the PEUGEOT  3008 SUV is among the most efficient SUVs in its class.

The arsenal of driving aids give a remarkable feeling of safety, including Active Safety Brake with pedestrian detection, Active Lane Departure Warning System, Active Blind Spot Monitoring System and Adaptive cruise control with stop feature.

Combine this with 360° Birds-eye view camera, City Park (self-parking technology) and High Beam Assist and you have complete peace of mind in the 3008 SUV….when you’re driving, it’s almost as if the car has a ‘sixth sense’!

The PEUGEOT 308 SUV also has an extensive list of accessories and the ‘clincher’ is a five year warranty from the date of your first registration: covering five years/unlimited kilometres for passenger vehicles….as well as a three year paintwork warranty and 12 year corrosion warranty.

The five year warranty equates to five years of worry free motoring and how’s this for the ‘cherry on the top’ …. should any part of your PEUGEOT require repair or replacement as a result of a manufacturing or material defect within the warranty period, the part will be repaired or replaced completely free of charge by your authorised PEUGEOT dealer, regardless of any change of ownership during the period covered!

As alluded to earlier, our kids couldn’t make the trip to Camden Park House with us because it was a school day, but they already love the new car, which seats up to seven people without compromising any comfort whatsoever!
